Mixed-Use Housing
Studio: Fall 2022 - Professor: Maged Guerguis
Welcoming locals and tourists into Knoxville's developing South Waterfront District, Tres Mont is a Mixed-Use Housing Complex with views towards the University of Tennessee's Campus and the Tennessee River.
Selecting this site location involved first understanding the project's program, scope, and scale by conducting a series of studies for zoning, regional development plans, and community feedback. Knoxville's increasing housing crisis and lack of community activity in South Knox, as well as the desire to highlight city qualities that create its distinct character, led to the conclusion that a large-scale, mixed-use complex on the Southern Waterfront District is the ideal approach to providing a multi-functioning solution.
The Tennesse River and the bridges that cross it are major contributors to the overall charm and character that Knoxville is known and loved for. A visual connection to the river was significant to the overall form and organization of the series of buildings that make up the Tres Mont complex
